Porter Stadium has been home to Pirate memories for 90 years - this past Saturday, we were proud to unveil its next chapter to kick off this year's Meet the Pirates! 🏴☠️
“This isn’t just about improving a facility - it’s about investing in the experience of every student, athlete, parent, and fan,” shared Superintendent Ritchie Kracht as he welcomed the community to see the $7 million transformation.
From new bleachers and expanded ADA-compliant restrooms to upgraded concessions and seating for 2,400 fans, the project was designed to enhance every game day experience. “These upgrades ensure Porter Stadium continues to be a source of pride for years to come,” said Ted Sampson, HPS Chief Operations Officer.
Sports Director Chris Duerr echoed that sentiment: “Porter Stadium offers an opportunity for students to be part of something bigger than yourself and celebrate that… When we come here, we come here as Pirate fans and as a community. It is our gathering place and a place in which we can be proud.”
Funded through Proposition Innovation, these renovations are a shared investment in our students, our families, and our future. Hannibal Public Schools extends its deepest appreciation to the community, taxpayers, parents, students, and staff whose flexibility and support made this project possible.🖤 ❤️🏴☠️

🚧 Temporary Closure: Main Campus Parking & Roads July 14
Please note: All roads and parking lots on our main campus will be closed to the public on Monday, July 14 for resurfacing. We plan to reopen on Tuesday, July 15, as long as the project is completed on schedule.
🏈 For students attending HMS football camp Monday evening, please park and walk from the YMCA or look for a coach stationed on Brookside Dr. to help guide you in. Due to ongoing construction, only students will be allowed to attend the camps.
Morning workout parking and drop off will be contained to the front middle school parking lot, the front high school parking lot and the parking along the wall at Brookside. All students will have to walk from there. There will be no drop off at KORF gym.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to maintain our campus!
