Hannibal, September 4th, 2024 — Hannibal Middle School is proud to announce the installation of a new state-of-the-art digital sign, a project made possible through the collaborative efforts of students, staff, and the community. The new sign will serve as a dynamic communication tool, allowing the school to celebrate student achievements, keep families informed, and share important updates.
The sign, which cost $15,600, was funded through the generous contributions of several groups. The Booster Club donated $7,000, the HMS Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) contributed $750, and the remaining amount was raised by students in the Leaders of the Crew program through various fundraising activities, including chocolate sales and concession stands throughout the 2023-2024 school year.
This modern digital sign replaces the school's original sign, which had been in use for over 20 years. The old sign had missing letters, broken trays, and required constant repair. The new sign will offer a long-lasting solution, allowing the school to prominently display students’ academic successes, sports victories, and other milestones.
“We are thrilled to have this new sign as a tool for celebrating our students’ hard work and keeping our community connected,” shared Assistant Principal Amber Riefesel. “With its prominent location near Highway 61, it will help us share important updates and student achievements with even more of our community."
The school district looks forward to using the sign to enhance communication and support student success both inside and outside the classroom.
