"Color Your Life Bright With Art"
I have begun adding various pieces of artwork to a newly found Kid's museum site called Artsonia. You can go to this site to view some of Veterans Elementary art work or works from around the world. There is a lot of information given on the home page about the site and how to work the site. If your student's work gets put on the site, I will send a letter home THE FIRST TIME with an explanation. (Please keep your child's screen name and security key information. If you lose this information, just let me know by note, email, or phone.) This site also allows parents, grandparents, ect. to re-create their child's art work onto stationary, mugs, magnets, and more. The Veterans Art Program gets 15% of any profit.****Keep in mind I am not using this as a fundraiser. This just seemed like a really neat way of accessing and sharing Art of students in our community and around the world. Check it out at the following website: www.artsonia.com Email me if any given information is incorrect. My email link is at the bottom of this page.
Magnificent Mays Awards
Magnificent Mays Awards are given to students in Kindergarten and First Grade. Each day of Art Class I award a few students with a Magnificent Mays Award for demonstrating proper behavior: good listening skills, working quietly, showing effort to do what's right, .....basically doing what is expected of them. When students receive 5 Mays Awards, they may have an "Art Sticker" or a multi-colored crayon chunk. I always remind them not to leave them in their pockets for laundry purposes, but keep your eyes open for these.
Artists of the Month
I choose Artists of the Month in Second through Fifth grade. 4 students per grade are selected each month to receive Artist of the Month. These students will receive a certificate and small award, along with getting to sign their names on the Artist of the Month Door cover for all to see. I choose Artists of the Month by good behavior and show of effort in Art Class. This begins in September.
