Welcome to the start of the 2018-2019 school year!  The start of a new school year is always an exciting time, not only for students, but for families and our staff as well.  It is my pleasure to welcome the students, families and staff back, ready to continue the important work of preparing all students for a prosperous future.

Our schools are excited to welcome you and your children to another tremendous school year here in Hannibal!  There are lots of outstanding things happening at our schools so be sure to check out the school websites,
keep an eye on your mail and email, watch for flyers and other materials that will be sent home with your students the first couple days of school to let you know about many details to ensure that your student has a successful year!  You can also check out our district and school district Facebook pages which are updated regularly highlighting the activities that are going on in our school district.

Our schools are also eager to welcome you as parents to partner with us in your child’s education.  You are encouraged to join our many Parent Teachers Associations (PTO) which is a wonderful way to participate in your child’s educational experience.

Our staff is eager to work closely with your child and to do so you can help us by ensuring that your child has regular attendance.  Our school district has focused on improving attendance as we know that they can’t learn  if they aren’t present.  We need your help by encouraging regular attendance.  Don’t forget that our school
district has one of the first on-campus health clinics, The PATCH Center!  If your child is not feeling well, you are welcome to drop by the clinic to see our Nurse Practitioner and other healthcare providers.  It is convenient and typically you get right in without having to wait.   When you help us make school attendance a priority, you
help your child get better grades, develop healthy life habits, and have a better chance of graduating from high school ready to meet all that life’s challenges may have in store for them successfully!

In closing, the Hannibal School District staff will continue to work hard to make our schools a place where your child wants to come each and every day to challenge themselves, to socialize and to achieve all that they can achieve as learners!  Our teachers and support staff are excited about the work they do every day with your
children to help them learn and grow!  Our schools are lucky to have this talented staff and we are also lucky to have a strong community and supportive parents.  Together, we all care deeply about the success of our children - and our schools care deeply about our community and its success as well!  I am proud to be your Superintendent and will work tirelessly to make sure this school district is the absolute best it can be.

I look forward to another great year!

Susan R. Johnson
Superintendent
