About the Teacher

I received an associate arts degree from Southeastern Community College and a bachelors in education from Iowa State University.  I graduated with a masters in administration from William Woods University in 2004.  I am married to Mark St Clair (Coach) and have two daughters.  

Course Descriptions

American Studies:  2 semesters.  11th grade requirement for graduation.
Semester 1:  we will complete a short survey of the Civil War and Reconstruction then begin more in-depth with industrialization heading into the 20th century. Themes that we will focus on include culture, immigration, war, economics, and social groups. We will cover the time up to the 1930's.
2nd semester:  we will begin around World War II and cover those themes through recent history.  

 
Psychology:  1 semester elective.  Must pass freshman and sophomore history as a prerequisite.
Psychology is the study of the behaviors and thinking of an organism.  This class is designed to improve knowledge of self and others.  We will do in-class and out-of-class experiments and keep journals showing how psychology relates to each student's life.

This is a basic outline of the topics covered in class.  It may vary by a few days each semester.
Week 1:  introduction of ideas and activities
Week 2 - 4:  learning-theory and practice
Week 5:  psychological research
Week 6 & 7:  memory and thinking
Week 8 & 9:  heredity vs. environment:  the role of the brain and body.
Week 10 & 11:  motivation and emotion
Week12 - 14:  personality and theory
Week 14: presentation of experiments
Week 15-18:  abnormal behavior

Tutoring Times

I am available until 3:05 everyday after school, most days until 3:30.  I will make arrangements to come early or stay later by appointment.  I will respond to email within 24 hours.  Tutoring is available in the library Monday-Thursday until 4:00 with a teacher from each subject area.
