French III - Course Description

French III is a full year course for one (1) credit. Students in French III will begin the year with a brief review of materials covered in their first two years of the language. Emphasis will be on written and oral skills as well as building vocabulary and grammar. We will work closely from the first half of our textbook, Allez, viens II. This textbook has a website with supplemental activities from the chapters so you can get some extra practice at home: go.hrw.com - check it out! (From the main page, click on "World Languages," then "French," then Allez, viens! Level II.) New vocabulary will be presented in each chapter along with composition and conversation. We will get about halfway through the textbook this year (chapters 1 - 7/8). Additional verb tenses will be introudced as well.

In the first semester, all students in French III will complete a research project/presentation on a French artist and his/her works to go along with our study of Impressionism. Also, as part of our unit on French castles in the second semester, all students will complete a smaller scale presentation on a castle in France.

Prerequisite: French II, recommended grade of "C" or better.
