Sixth Grade General Music - This
is a semester course. Students are exposed to music through singing and playing
various instruments. They will continue to learn how to read music by playing the
guitar and/or soprano recorder. Students will perform in one concert per semester.
Vocalocity - This is an after
school choir offered to all sixth grade students. Students meet one day a week. This choir sings a variety of unison and two-part
literature. They will attend the Sixth Grade Honor Choir every March.
Performances are required.
Seventh Grade Mixed Choir - This
choir is offered to students wanting to continue their choral training. The
students will sing a variety of two, three, and four-part literature. Individual
improvement will be attained by working on breathing techniques, vowel
formation, vocal range, and control/flexibility of the voice. Students will
learn to sight read melodies in the keys of C and F using the Kodaly method.
There is one unit of choreography. Performances are required.
Music 8- This is a
general music class that experiences music through the guitar. The student will
learn to play chords and play notes on the guitar. The students will also
perform guitar ensembles. This is not a performance
class.
Pirate Singers - This
an auditioned mixed choir. The students will
sing a variety of two, three, and four-part literature.
Individual improvement will be attained by
working on breathing techniques, vowel formation, vocal range, and
control/flexibility of the voice. Students will learn to sight read melodies in
a variety of keys using the Kodaly method. There will be two units of
choreography. Performances are required.
