A+ Program Goals

• Graduate from high school
• Complete a selection of studies that is challenging and has identified learning expectations
• Proceed from high school graduation to: college
• Post secondary vocational or technical school
• Obtain a high-wage job with workplace skills development opportunities.

Minimum Requirements of Designated High Schools

• Establish district-wide performance standards
• Specify knowledge, skills, and competencies in measurable terms
• Develop a method of measuring and recording mastery
• Eliminate the general education track of courses
• Offer rigorous course work in basic academic subjects
• Organize local advisory committee

 

LOCAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

• Partnership plan with business and industry
• Plan to identify and intervene with potential drop-outs
• Provide counseling and mentoring to students entering the workforce
  • Apprenticeships
  • Internships
  • Job shadowing

BENEFITS FOR STUDENTS

State reimbursement for the cost of:

• tuition
• all general fees
• at any Missouri public community college or vocational-technical post-secondary school.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

• Attend an A+ school for 3 consecutive years prior to graduation
• 2.5 GPA average over 4 years
• 95% attendance average over 4 years
• 50 hours unpaid tutoring
• Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoidance of the unlawful use of drugs, including alcohol.
• Make a documented good faith effort to first secure all available federal postsecondary student financial assistance funds that do not require repayment (FAFSA).
• All males who reach their 18th birthday musst register for the Selective Service.
• Beginning with the class of 2015, students must score proficient or advanced on the Algebra I End of Course Exam (EOC)

A+ AGREEMENT

Students wishing to participate in the A+ Program must sign an agreement.  Click below to print a copy of the Hannibal High School A+ Agreement.  This agreement needs to be completed and signed by both student and parent and returned to the A+ Office at Hannibal High School.  Be sure to bring both student and A+ Office copies of the agreement for the A+ Coordinator's signature.  Also, be sure to ask for a copy of the up-to-date Hannibal High School A+ Program Handbook.  This document contains specific student guidelines and requirements of the HHS A+ Schools Program.

WHILE IN COLLEGE
