Instructional
Strategies or Activities:
Students will work in groups to create a hanger mobile showing the structure and functions of the three branches of Missouri’s government.
As a class choose three different symbols to represent each branch of Missouri’s government. Students should label each symbol with the appropriate branch of Missouri’s government. Next, have the students hang these three papers to the bottom of a clothes hanger with yarn or string. On separate pieces of paper, have the students list the duties of each branch and attach them with yarn or string to the correct heading.
Summative
Assessment:
As a class, make a list of all the things that Missouri’s government does for people. Ask the students how many of these things their family uses. Display the completed hangers in the classroom or in the hallway.
