Wake-Up[ to Missouri

Formative Assessment:

Where would you like to visit in Missouri?

How far away is that place?

How long would it take to get there?

Instructional Strategies or Activities:

After studying Missouri tourism have each student choose a different place to visit. Give each student a Missouri road map. Using the map grid have them find and circle Hannibal and their destination city. Using three different colors of markers trace these routes. When finished students will use the mileage chart to find the shortest route.

Summative Assessment:

Students will write down their route using highway numbers and directions and calculate the distance.

3 points: route was correct and the shortest.

2 points: route was correct but not the shortest

1 point: route was the longest

Assignment is part of a travel brochure project designed by the student.
