Mathematics
Grade 4
MA 2 Geometric/Spatial Sense
Course Objective * Students will explore, construct, and explain geometric and spatial relationships to include measurement (length, area, and volume), congruence, similarity, and transformations of shapes.
Learner Objectives
1. Investigate concepts of lines, angles, similarity, congruence, and symmetry. [1.6, 2.5]
2. Visualize, model, draw, classify, and compare plane and solid figures. [2.1]
3. Develop and explain the use of perimeter and area of squares and rectangles. [2.1]
4. Investigate and determine length, capacity, weight, area, volume, time (including calendars), and temperature. [2.5]
5. Use customary, metric, and nonstandard units of measure to determine length to the nearest quarter inch and nearest half centimeter. [1.10]
6. Investigate geometry in art, architecture, and nature. [2.4]
7. Select and discuss appropriate units and devices (protractor, compass, ruler, scales) to estimate or make measurements considering degree of accuracy. [2.6]
