Geometry Walk

Formative Assessment:

Today we are going to review shapes and figures we have studied.

What are the kinds of lines?

What are some of the solid figures we have discussed?

What plane figures have we discussed?

Instructional Strategies or Activities:

Give each student a paper with a list of shapes and figures in the right column. Lists could be the same for each student or different if you are looking for many different figures. The right column will be titled Where I Saw It.

Vertical Line

Horizontal Line

Circle

Trapezoid

Square

Rectangle

Rhombus

Then tell students they will be going on a geometry walk through the building and around the school looking for each figure. When students find a figure they complete the right hand column. Encourage students to look for figures in nature.

Summative Assessment:

Pair and share their papers. Then have students right a paragraph explaining the most interesting figure they saw.
