What’s the Order

Formative Assessment:

*      Why is ordering important?

*      What is the difference between least and greatest?

Instructional Strategies or Activities:

Divide class into groups of 4 or 5.  Pass out number cards of various value to each student.  The group must line up least to greatest or greatest to least.  Shuffle cards and repeat.  After each group has used each set of cards, reshuffle and have all students draw one card.  Without talking students order the group of numbers.  When it is determined that the ordering is correct, each student correctly says his/her number.

Summative Assessment:

Write several sets of numbers on the overhead for students to order.
